In Art and Design Fundamentals Class, we were exploring different hand gestures and the use of texture.  For my project, I decided to play with the use of line through contour and the angles of the text.  As the hand began to take form and I sketched the names, the piece still looked a bit flat for my liking.  Once I went over my lines in liner pen, I decided to add a bit of stippling to the shadows to create depth.  In the end, the stippled shading helped distinguish the hand from the background and pull the focus to the deep lettering without a distracting contrast.
